Art restores – an event dedicated to Refugee Day

Due to war, violence or persecution 123 million people worldwide have fled their homes. These are the figures as of the end of 2024. World Refugee Day celebrated on June 20, is an occasion not only for compassion but also for action. It is a day dedicated to the human resilience that inspires even in the darkest of times.

This day reminds us that behind every statistical figure there is a real person with their own story, their own pain, and their own unique experience.

In honor of this day, Natalia Muzyka, a psychologist and coordinator of work with IDP communities in Khmelnytsky region of the NGO “CrimeaSOS”, held an art therapy session for the members of the Women’s Club. For two hours, the IDP women dedicated to themselves and their recovery. In a safe circle, among those who understand them, they talked, played and drew. Their drawings are a reflection of their thoughts and best hopes.

For us, this day is not about losses. It’s about new chances and beginnings, about meeting new people, getting support and understanding. We are strong, we are together, and we have already done a lot!

We are grateful to “CrimeaSOS” and Natalia Muzyka for their support and for this day filled with warmth and care.
