⠀
It’s impossible to hold back tears while listening to the stories of the children from Chornobaivka, whose fate has been filled with terrible trials.
⠀
Constant shelling, life in bombshelters, occupation, the deaths of fellow villagers, shortage of food, lack of electricity and water… Some have even become familiar with collaboration. One of the boys received a shrapnel wound in his shoulder, spent three days in a russian prison, and witnessed the beating and torture of another person.
⠀
They were happy about the liberation on November 11, 2022, but within a few days, russian shelling started from the left bank of the Dnipro River, where the occupiers had fled.
⠀
The “Children of the War” project welcomed the first group of children from Chornobaivka for psychological rehabilitation one month after the de-occupation. In the peaceful town of Kamianets-Podilskyi, the children regained their carefree and joyful spirits, just as happy children should be.
